• emergency contraception (levonorgestrel) is an over-the-counter drug that is sometimes called “the morning after pill.” it has several brand names, like Plan B, AfterPill, Preventeza, and My Way. when taken immediately after intercourse, it can prevent pregnancy by delaying ovulation — if there is no egg to fertilize, pregnancy cannot occur. this is NOT the same as the “abortion pill” misoprostol, sometimes referred to as “plan c”. but like the abortion medication, emergency contraception is also safe and effective!
